St. Bede School in Ingleside to close despite massive fundraising
Father George Koeune, pastor of Our Lady of the Lakes Parish and St. Bede School in Ingleside, announced on March 21 that St. Bede School would close at the end of this school year because of low registration for next school year.
St. Frances of Rome School in Cicero to remain open
St. Frances of Rome School in Cicero received welcome news March 6 when the Archdiocese of Chicago announced that the school, which was slated to close in June, would remain open.
Loss of state Invest in Kids scholarship program forces closure of two Catholic Schools
The pastors of St. Frances of Rome School in Cicero and St. Odilo School in Berwyn announced Jan. 18 that both schools will close in June of this year, bringing an end to a combined total of 196 years of Catholic education at their locations.

Chicago Jesuit Academy expands campus, student body
Chicago Jesuit Academy, 5058 W. Jackson Blvd., is expanding in the city’s Austin neighborhood. In the fall of 2023, the school dedicated a $30 million wing with new classroom space, new science labs, space for special education sessions and social workers, accompanied by lots of natural light.
Early childhood students, communities benefit from learning in second language
Early childhood students at 17 Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Chicago are getting daily instruction in a second language, usually Spanish, in a program that educators call a win-win-win for students, families and schools.
